Solarian Insider - April 15th Edition

Greetings Solarians!

It's been a little longer than expected for this news article to be pushed out due to a variety of issues at the printing press! But we have some updates to some of the events going on around Solaria as-well-as some important news about specific items out and about.

April Feedback Form is live - get rewards!

The April Feedback form is now live, along with rewards during the first week of the form being live! That's right, until the 22nd of April, if you fill out the following feedback form and supply your username, we will be giving you 25 Credits and 10 Egg Tokens!

Estertide in full swing; New items at the Estertide Stall!

Whilst we are far behind on updates due to the printing press being out-of-action these past two weeks, we are happy to mention a tonne of new Estereggs being found all around the place! Because of this, however, we have been noticing a few... odd occurrences. Apparently, according to some eyewitness accounts, some of these Estereggs have been found flying through rifts that apparently contain something inside! We are unsure how many there are out there, but with more and more popping up... well, maybe you should have a look?

This will be the only time these items will be re-stocked:

IMPORTANt updates to breedings and breeding items:

Due to a noticeable increase in how rarer traits are being rolled and how breeding items are being used in conjunction with one another and any buffs a character will have, we have decided to make a few changes to breeding bonuses, breeding items, and mutato rolls.

• Breeding  Bonuses:
  • Breeding bonuses for items, such as Truffles and the craftable Snack/Lunch/Bento Boxes, and buffs, such as powers or mateship buffs, now have a limit on how high the bonus chance on a singular trait roll can go.
  • You can continue to stack items and buffs as you can currently however it will be capped at +25 for rolls. If an item/buff combination is present that would make the roll go above +25, the item and buff will still be used/consumed in the breeding but it will go no higher than the cap. If we notice additional items being used in a breeding that will have no effect due to all traits that are passable being bonus capped, we will simply inform you and not remove them from your banks.
  • For example: 
    • If you have +20 from powers/buffs and then use a packed lunch (+8 to all breeding rolls), then it will get a trait roll up to +25 but no higher. The item will still be consumed to reach the +25 mark. 
      
      
• Truffles are now stackable.
  • Due to the above changes to breedings, truffles are now able to be stacked on a single breeding. 
  • This change was decided due to there being a cap on how high of a breeding bonus traits can get and, since some of these items grant something as low as a +1 to breeding rolls, we have decided to allow these to be stackable. Other breeding items are not affected by these changes.
      
• Mutato Rarity Rolls are changing: 
  
  • The Mutato item is used in breedings to guarantee a trait neither of the parents have and can be anything from common to legendary in rarity. We are changing the chances that specific rarities are able to pass from these mutatos. Here are the new chances:
    • Common: 1-55                 (Unchanged)
    • Uncommon: 56-80         (Old: 56-70)
    • Rare: 81-93                         (Old: 71-90)
    • Very Rare: 94-99             (Old: 91-97)
    • Legendary: 100                (Old: 98-100)
  • These roll chances are only for the Mutato item only. The 25% chance mutation that all breedings have that can be opted out of remain with the older chances due to the chance of rolling for the mutation being fairly low. 
  • These roll chances also do not go over to Mutato Stones, due to the ingredients being relatively harder to get for the crafting of this item. 
    
    
• New Chaos Item to be implemented:
  
  • Whilst we are implementing a cap on breeding rolls, we will also be implementing a special item in the future that will remove the cap on breeding bonus', allowing for as many breeding items as you'd like to be used on that breeding. This will be very rarely seen within the game but will be an option for those who wish to have crazy breedings later down the line. 

We will monitor the effects of these changes and if we feel there is still a balancing issue we will begin to look into other solutions, such as a breeding cooldown. These changes will officially go into effect on the 18th. Any breedings requests accepted before this date will go by current rules/stats. 

Serah's Sketches - April Badge is now live:

It seems that Serah has a new task for you in the Community Hall for you to earn either a new pet! Everyone, meet Rolo, the strange Esteregg made entirely of chocolate! Expressionless in appearance and prefers the colder climate, you're sure to be shocked when he talks through an echo-y voice directed right at you telepathically!This task has been posted in the Community Hall with an end date of the 30st of April, and don't worry! This quest is quite short given the delay in the quest going live.

Just like last month, this quest is only once per account according to the poster in the Community Hall; so why not pop over there, give it a look, and see if you are up for the task?

Each Serah's Sketches quest will receive a new achievement as well on top of the reward!

Community Day Update:

Whilst the community day has been pushed back due to the printing press causing delays, staff are in active discussion deciding on our top three from all the entrants! Thank you to everyone who has posted an idea to be added to Kiamaras. We will be notifying users on the 16th or 17th in terms of the top three, along with how you can vote for your favourite!

Drop Rate Increases:

A small announcement, but we felt a lot of users will be interested in this! 

• Bubs has a 0.5% drop chance of a legendary stone, up from 0.1%

Solarian Insider - March 3rd 2023 

Greetings Solarians - apologies on another update, it seems news isn't something that sleeps for anyone, and I plan on being ahead of everyone else to report it! Only a small update from our offices today, but an important one regardless. 

Potion Emporium gets ready to close up shop

As mentioned in our previous entry, we have been eagarly awaiting the news as to the status of Sug and Gus' potions, which we are happy to report has finally been calculated. We are happy to announce that Gus was successful in creating his potion! With record-breaking help throughout the event, it is no surprise to the Solarian Insider that Gus would reign victorious. As a thank-you, the new potion (Named, not surprisingly, Gus' Potion) has been added to the Potion Emporium for 50 Heart Candies. These are a one-per-account soulbound item that will be available until 11:59 PM GMT on the 6th of March. After this time, they will not be available to purchase until next Affinity Faire!

We also have word that it's not the only addition to the Potion Emporium:

• Heart Broken Kiamara Raffle
  • Made by the lovely Chim, Kiamara Ka-3628 will be up for raffle until 11:59 PM GMT on the 6th of March.
  • These raffle tickets are free and one per account.
• Pinana Skin - 1 Heart Candy Each 
  • This item is used to convert all your remaining Heart Candies into tradable items at Sal's Trade Shack. 
  • Any currency still on your account after the shop closes will be wiped from your account. 

As an update to the feedback form, we will be posting a feedback form on our Discord Group with a credit, beast badge, or book token reward for answering it on the 7th of March!

Solarian Insider - March 1st 2023 

Greetings Solarians!

I'm William Davies, the newest journalist on the block bringing you the latest information, gossip, and entertainment when you need it most! I'll be here posting twice a month with all the newest info I can find to help you out in Solaria! 

Affinity Faire Conclusion

Solaria has been full of buzz these past weeks with the event Affinity Faire being live! We have seen countless potions being created, and some being tampered with, in order to help the friendly bots down at the Potion Emporium to recreate their lost potions. So many of you have helped them out, however only one of the bots was able to create their potion with the help of the community. Whilst we are still hearing from our on-field reporters as to which bot won, we will let you know as soon as we do on this news post!

As always, once the final potions have been calculated, the Potion Emporium Shop will stay open for an additional 3 days to help you with any final purchases you may have. During these three days, the new potion (either Gus' or Sug's potion) will be added for purchase for 50HC, a random junk piece for 1HC, and a free adoptable raffle ticket, which will be one-per-person and rolled on the final day the quest hub/shop will be. We will update you here as well when we have more information on the subject!

Achievements for the event will be handed out after all quests have been rolled for. Please allow us up to 5 days to send your achievements for this event. After this time, if you still do not have the achievement on your profile, please submit a claim as you could have been missed. 

The winners for the Quad Trinket Raffle, Rex's Triplet Breeding Raffle, and Shade's Twin Breeding Raffle will be rolled and announced after the final affinity faire prompt has been judged.

At the end of the event, we will be posting a feedback form on our Discord Group with a credit, beast badge, or book token reward for answering it!

Serah's Sketches - March Badge is now live!

It seems that Serah has a new task for you in the Community Hall for you to earn either a Stasis Egg or Mana Soul Tears to help you go towards making an infamous Glowing Stasis Egg! This task has been posted in the Community Hall with an end date of the 31st of March, giving you plenty of time to be able to take part. Just like last month, this quest is only once per account according to the poster in the Community Hall; so why not pop over there, give it a look, and see if you are up for the task?

Each Serah's Sketches quest will receive a new achievement as well on top of the choice reward!

Job Board Updates

I've been hearing reports that the Job Board is set to be re-opening sometime near the end of March, with the renovations changing the way Jobs are handed out. From these reports, we have discovered that Job Board quests will be becoming once-per-account, per 24 hours due to how much easier these jobs will become to complete, with smaller tasks. The rewards will also be changing, with the unique items staying as a possible reward with the addition of a few new ones as well! It's an exciting time to be looking for new work this month indeed!

Blessings and Curses Update

At this moment in time, whilst we are seeing some lucky, or unlucky in some cases, characters obtaining a blessing or a curse, we do not yet know how to have this power granted! The biotechnicians in Manabane are working hard to discover how and why these random occurrences seem to happen and we will let you know as soon as they find any leads in the case! They forecast some sort of update at the end of March/beginning of April. 

Kiamara/Dromedairy Exchange

Some Lost Kias and Droma need additional help when it comes to wandering around these lands. As a former Rift-Jumper-Turned-Settler myself, it certainly is a lot to come to terms with! Some others out there feel the same, and so Maisie at the Job Board is working on an exchange programme where a user can send in a Kiamara or a Dromedairy and receive some rewards in return, with the characters that were handed into the exchange being obtainable from the Exchange Shoppe. Currently, Maisie aims to get this exchange programme up and running for April! 

Community Vote

March will also bring the first Community Vote event where you Rifties will get to decide on an item that will be integrated into Solaria. Best of all? You get to design it! We will be opening applications soon, where you'll be able to submit an item idea. The winner will get their item added to the site with a recipe, with the original concept holder being rewarded with some amazing prizes should they win!

Affinity Faire Quest Update

It appears that even robots feel the Affinity Faire blues!

It seems that Gus isn't getting anywhere with his potions, but he has happily figured out one thing; potion bottle shapes seem to not grant any special effect, only the ingredients!

He's allowing everyone else who has batch-made potions to distil in different potion bottles 4 hours to submit them, as he plans to see if he can put them to good use! He has so many that he's already made some that he found have a special ability available to purchase from the Potion Emporium Shop for everyone to take home! 

After 4 hours, Gus will require unique potion ideas from those willing to help him!

Sug has also been having a blast with all of the different ways people have sabotaged different potions, though he's noticed that some ideas seem to be reused a little bit.

Sure, making a sweet-smelling potion turn into a stinky cheese one to attract every single dregonian in sight is funny the first time! And the second!

...And mayyyybe the third.

But, eventually, it gets old. He is allowing everyone 4 hours to get their giggles out and repeat the same prank more than once! However, after this time, he will only be allowing unique attempts to tamper Gus' stock. But, he has his own little prank up his sleeve in the Potion Emporium Shop! Go check it out!

Lost Pride Kiamaras are appearing through the rifts!

We are having reports from the Manahunters that there are a few lost Kiamaras jumping through the rifts, ready for you to help find their way in Solaria! These will be released periodically throughout the next two weeks up until the 12th of July, so keep your eyes peeled on the LOST KIAMARA GALLERY to see when they become available, or JOIN THE KIAMARA DISCORD SERVER for an immediate notification once a Lost Kiamara goes live!

The first public 'blessed' kiamara is up for adoption via competition!

To celebrate, the Kiamara of Pride has made an appearance in Solaria and is looking for a forever home! This Kiamara is Inturosian in rarity, which means they have a Blessing attached to them! This blessing is an incredibly rare and unique trait that is intertwined with that character; no other character in solaria will have the same trait! They are also a Mythic Super Noodle for all those who love the Ramen-Shaped kias! 

All entries for the competition will have a reward, even just for entering! Go check it out!

Boxes of pride are appearing in quests!

Between the 28th of June, all the way till the 12th of July, any quests submitted between these dates have a 10% chance of dropping a BOX OF PRIDE! This means that no matter what prompt you take part in, be it a job, manahunting, or even a soul-binding, you have a 10% chance of obtaining this special little event box!

You can now obtain pride flags from the Tour Guide!

There is a multipack of pride flags currently available from the Tour Guide! This will be available until pride 2023, where they may be updated or include more flags to help you display your Kiamara's sexuality or gender identity! You can only attach one flag per kiamara, which is something we are looking into to allow more than one to be attached at a time, as we want to be as inclusive as possible. We also understand that not everyone's sexuality or gender identity may be present in flag form, so if there is any that we have missed that you feel should be included, please send a message to the Kiamara Discord Server's 'Suggestions-Channel'.

Some QUESTS HAVE BEEN UPDATED!

The job board rotation has changed, giving a new weeks worth of quests for you all to take part in! We hope you enjoy the new rotation. We have also updated both the Make Your House A Home questlines in the Pandrean Library, which will also be added to a new quest line coming within the next week or so!

Happy Estertide from Solaria... or is it?

It seems that whilst everyone was trying to get the Estertide event sorted, someone has stolen all the eggs and Gus is nowhere to be seen! Whilst there are some still lurking, the Pandrean Wardens have spent the last week trying to find them to no avail and so have asked for your help! Join Serah and the gang to find out who the culprit is, or keep morale up by sharing your Estertide traditions with everyone for Serah's research of all of Mara Kind! These quests can be found in the Community Center! Serah has also restored what she could of the Estertide Stall for you to claim rewards for all your help in finding the lost Eggs!

Estertide has now finished!

Thank you to everyone who has taken part in Estertide this year! We hope you have all enjoyed the event and have lots of new and exciting items to aid you on your journey into Solaria. 

The Estertide Stall will remain open for +3 days after the final prompt has been rolled to allow for those final Egg Tokens to be spent! We will also be keeping up any hidden eggs that are placed around the site for +2 days after the final prompt has been rolled to allow for those who still have them to find some additional time to gain some extra Esteregg Boxes! After this date, they will disappear from the site! 

We will also be rolling any raffles at this time as well, so be sure you purchase all the tickets you need and open them before this date! We will remind you all 1 hour before the raffles close to open your tickets and 1 hour before the shop closes on Discord!

There is a Green Foil Egg item added to the shop for the chance to exchange any additional egg tokens into credits, or to obtain your own personal Green Foil Egg horde! The choice is yours! Thank you all once again for making this Estertide one to remember!

Good evening, Solarians!

Since it is officially 2023 in Wales, I wanted to wish everyone a Happy New Year wherever you are in the world! I wish you all greatness in the coming year and the best of wishes with your new years resolutions, should you make any!

I have a few surprises for you all, but first I wanted to take the opportunity to thank some awesome people for this past year - the first year of the Kiamaras ARPG!

Firstly, I would love to thank our wonderful TestSubject0000 for all his hard work getting this site updated and running for us all. It's without a doubt that we would not be here without him and I truly believe what he does is magic. Thank you for helping us cultivate such an amazing community, putting up with my cries for help over trivial things, and just being an amazing guy - I think I say it for all of us in Kias that we truly appreciate everything you do and cannot wait to see what else you have in store for us all!

Secondly, I want to thank Free-Shade and ThePaintedKitsune for being absolutely amazing admin assistants who have been incredible help throughout this first year as an ARPG. Thank you for always being my voices of reason and helping out in the trickiest of situations.

I also want to thank our Archivist team for being so on-top of uploads and edits for the community. Words cannot express how much I appreciate all the time you put into archive and moderation work and all the elbow grease you put into the species to keep it running smoothly!

I also want to thank all our Artist Team for the amazing contributions to the species you have brought this year. I personally think that we have had some of the best designs kiamaras has seen, some of the nicest transfers made, and the nursery kiddos have been amazing!

I want to also personally thank Chimericect for being an incredible help with rolling prompts. You put in ~~too much~~ so much effort to help the ARPG continuously keep running, and we all truly appreciate everything you do <3

And I also want to thank Zuppe for all the beautiful hard work they have put into lore-building so far for the species - I really cannot stress how much I am looking forward to seeing what else you bring to the species!

A shoutout to Icescape as well who has been our resident bug-finder and has helped out by vigorously testing the site in their own time to help us improve every step of the way <3

Balloonist who has to put up with all my stress and look after bubs to even give me the opportunity to work on this as my job <3

And finally, all of you guys.
I know this hasn't been the easiest transition for a species, but I want to stress that if it wasn't for you guys, I honestly don't know where I would be as an artist and as a person. This was a big make-or-break for me and it took a huge leap of faith to get here. It's been very rocky, especially with balancing my work and home life, but seeing how much you guys enjoy the species and want to see it thrive and also support the vision of the ARPG and want to see where it goes; well, that's something I will always cherish for years and years to come. Thank you all for putting your faith into the species as an ARPG, for your patience when I have been poofy due to IRL things as we balance the first-time-parent and working-from-home things, and I really, really hope you guys enjoy what else we have in store for you in the future;w;

Now, for some long overdue updates for you all on where we are and what we have planned! 

NEw dawn 2023 will be releasing at 10pm GMT on the 1st of January

That's right! Gus Gus is back with his famous Sun Cookies ready to help bring the New Dawn cheer and warm bellies on these cold nights! Though, there's one issue... There's a lot more of you this year than last year! Last year, Gus needed help finding the cookies he lost and this year, he's asking you to help make Sun Cookies for the demanding masses!

This short, but fun, event will last from the 1st of January until the 8th of January with short, fun prompts for you to enter into with easy and quick-to-gain rewards, including a new pet or two as-well-as some items from last year for those who missed them! 

Main Story Progression

It's been a year since the Calamity occurred and we are still no closer to answers, however, there has been a whisper in the wind about a specific underground ruin that gus broke into during Hearth Fire. Apparently, according to reports from the Hunters of Verulia, there has been strange and unique creatures slipping through the cracks into Solaria's realm, and some of them are hostile. Another report from a manahunter suggests that upon getting closer to the location, they heard the same whirring sound that occurs the closer you get to the Calamity. Perhaps the two are connected, but if they are we do not yet know... 

The beginning of the main story, with the first quest being "Hunter's Report" will have you exploring the area around this location. Who knows; maybe one of you lucky, or unlucky, beings will end up uncovering something for the community? 

This quest will be going live on the 21st of January 2023. 

Factions

Got a favourite guild you're a part of? Maybe you like the idea of siding with a so-called deity? Well, with the faction system you can show your affinity with pride! Factions will bring a whole lot of different loot drops and perks based on your affinity with them and the choices you make in game! We are looking for a mid-to-late spring release for factions! 

Profile customisation

One of the things we wanted to tackle is profile customisation, for both free profiles and paid. Paid profiles will be for appearances only and have no in-game perks, but we have a lot of plans to make them special. Free profiles will also have some customisation options implemented and an overall appearance change. Also, dark mode anyone? 
We hope to bring all these changes by summer 2023! 

More immediately; a rare MYO for everyone to celebrate Kiamaras first year as an arpg

For the entire week that New Dawn is live, you will be able to obtain a single Rare MYO from his stall once the event is live, for free!

The Kingfisher has docked!

Hey everyone! Thank you all for your patience with our belated summer event! We truly apologise for how long it has taken us to get this all set up for you all, but we are really excited to bring you aboard The Kingfisher, Sal's prized vessel! Join the crew, help out some old friends, and get paid for the things you find on your journey! So, now that you're here, before you hop on deck here's a little handy guide as to what kind of things you can see!

Main Questline with Choices!
For this event, we have a progression questline that will unlock parts from now all the way up to halloween! These quests also have specific choices you have to make, which have unique rewards depending on which option you choose! Choose wisely; once chosen you cannot change your choice! Each part of the questline will have it's own set of choices! Help Sal recover the lost jewels of the late Queen of Pandrea's crown before he gets framed for stealing them and potentially learn some secrets along the way! 

Repeatable Side Quests for you to take part in!
Whether you want to dive straight into the main quest, or want to enjoy your time with the new crew you have around you, side quests will be there to help you gain new and exciting items or more quest currency, Doubloons, which can be spent at the event shop! Speaking of which... 

Help Gug save Gus! 
That's right! Our favourite Robot friend that has been missing since Affinity Faire has finally been spotted, and it's up to you to help find him! Gug, another little friend-shaped robot and their pet Guuuug are saving up enough to help get him home! Help them out by spending doubloons at their shop, and they even have a little friend for free to help you find more of it! They will also periodically update their stock to include new items; keep an eye out!

Every quest you take part in grants you a Purple Raffle Shell! These can also be purchased from Gug's Shack. This item, when opened, gives you a ticket towards 'The Terrorfin', an item that will grant your Kiamara the Fish-Tail trait! There will be 5 given away during the event!

And we're back!

Hey everyone! Thank you ever so much for your patience in the recent updates. Some things have happened all at the same time with members of the Admin Team in our offline lives that have caused us to push things behind schedule. Because of this, things we expected to only take a week or so have taken up to a month and for that, we sincerely apologise and thank you for waiting for them! 

That being said, we are happy to announce that we are finally able to get things steamrolling again! And we even have a few things to share with you all to start with!

Final feedback form of 2022

As many of you may know, especially if you are part of the Discord Group, we constantly strive for better communication between our admins and our community members. After all, without feedback we wouldn't be able to improve the current systems we have in place! This feedback form is to go over both the Kiamara ARPG and the species portions to try to get more feedback into making things fairer for all and overall more balanced! This form will be anonymous. We really would appreciate you taking the time to read through it and giving us your feedback as it really helps us improve the overall experience of the game and species as a whole. That, and this will be the last feedback form until 2023!

Manahunters Guild is now Live

After a longer wait than anticipated, we are happy to announce that the Manahunters' Guild is now back up and running with newly balanced loot tables, new rewards, and altered quests so you won't be doing the exact same thing as last time! There are a lot of exciting things to do, and we thank you ever so much for your patience with this mini update! After this we will be taking a short break from updating the final guild, the engineers guild, to focus on finishing up the long over-due summer event. Speaking of which... 

Event Round Up of the rest of the year!

As mentioned above, we will be focusing on the next few events of the year for the next few weeks, with the long-awaited Pirate-Themed Super Summer Slam event next in line! Due to its delay, we have decided this event will run up until October, with a lead-up to the Halloween event, Hearth Fire! We can't tell much as to what it will entail, nor when it will be fully released until closer to finishing, however, we are very excited to show you what we have planned. More Sal lore, anyone? ;3
