How do the parent(s) respond to witnessing or experiencing injustice?:
Kenai once lived a solitary life, with nothing more than anger as his only companion. This was until Kenai found himself unexpectedly burdened with the responsibility of a newborn. At first he was irritated and annoyed. His peace was ruined by the constant cries and demands of the infant. Yet as days turned into months, a subtle tenderness began to spark inside of him.
He started to feel drawn to the tiny child. Her innocence was the complete opposite to his own hardened exterior. Looking at her wide innocent eyes melted his cold heart. The sound of her laughter filled him with a joy he had never known before.
The world once nothing more to him than an insufferable place, now seemed different through the eyes of his daughter. He began to see the injustices of the world as a threat to the innocence of his child and no longer as a personal challenge. The fire of anger, once fueled by personal gain, now burned with a strong desire to protect the vulnerable.
No longer motivated by the need for revenge, he worked to heal the mistakes of his past. He began to understand the power of forgiveness. The transformation was slow but consistent. The once gruff and angry man became a gentle and caring father. The girl, a ray of hope in a life once filled with darkness.
