What was intended to be a simple survey mission turned out to be the crux of Faraji's unintended exile on an alien planet. One of a hundred or so crew members aboard a science vessel that was scouting new planets for potential habitable zones, things took a disastrous turn after an unknown distress signal had been picked up. Investigating the signal, not long after breaching the atmosphere of the alien world, a planet-wide defense system came to life and sent the vessel hurtling towards its watery grave. Faraji was one of very few who managed to make it to the escape pods as the flaming wreckage of the ship fell out of the sky, his life pod landing a safe distance away but sent adrift upon the planets endless oceans.
Not being afforded the opportunity to grieve for the many that did not make it off of the ship, Faraji was forced to learn how to employ the resources of the ocean around him and his knowledge of Marine life from home in order to survive. Slowly he began to unravel the mystery of what had lead to the untimely demise of the Science vessel and her crew and he was faced with a very grim discovery. There was a very aggressive, foreign bacterium that had been left to fester upon this world for who kne whow long... and having feasted upon the native fish species, he himself was now a host for it.
Doing his best to make something out of a crappy situation, Faraji established his own underwater base and fabricated his own lab where he would continue to study both the native flora and fauna as well as the alien bacteria that had spelled the end for the ones responsible for the technology that had shot them out of the sky. Quarantined and alone, uncertain whether he would live to develop a cure for the blight he had contracted or if it would one day claim his life too.
