Once known as a fierce warrior on the mortal plane, in a country stuck in a constant struggle, he was always found on the battlefield defending his homeland. Many believed that he was blessed by the gods and that was why he always made it home with little to no injuries and they weren’t entirely wrong. He struck a deal with a goddess; If she gave him protection on the battlefield to keep his home safe, then he would be devoted to her once the battles were over. After a few long and rough years of fighting, the side he fought for won, and he was commended by many for his contribution. The goddess watched him for a few months and upon realizing he was making no effort to hold up his end of the bargain she confronted him. He argued that he won the battles himself and that there was nothing to prove she actually helped him, therefore he wouldn’t devote himself to someone who did nothing for him. The goddess was furious, of course, and banished him to the plane of the dead, telling him that he would suffer all the injuries and pain he was protected from with no one there to help him.
Luca found himself in a dreary place surrounded by strange creatures and deformed spirits that were aggressive and relentless. He spent what felt like years protecting himself and fighting off various attacks. He realized that part of the problem and why everything in the place was aggressive was because there was no structure. Many of the beings were intelligent and were docile when at a distance or left alone and this led him to believe that if there was a structured settlement or someone to take charge that they could get along and be peaceful. 

It took him a long time, but he eventually set up a small settlement and essentially acted as the chief of the group and brought them together. With time, the settlement grew into a full blown city and his title grew from chief to mayor. Some still call him chief/leader while some think of him as a god.
Luca has always kept his aggressive and reserved behavior in front of others, especially in a work setting. But behind doors he is calm, collected, and very loving to his kids. No one would guess though because of his large stature and the scars he’s collected.
