Ka-1770: Neophron "Neo"
Neo runs a funeral home that's been passed through his family through many generations. Harboring a huge respect for the dearly departed and traditions of old, is a staple of his job, along with being an understanding person who can help guide families through their grief.
He never had qualms with this job, and while he could never say that working with the dead would be his first choice- or that being surrounded by pain so frequently makes him quite happy; he's content enough in his lot in life to maintain his business with the utmost of care.
It might not be a glamorous job, but it is a necessary one. And he grew up well understanding his role in both this life and the next. He has a degree in psychology in addition to his funerary-related degrees, which helps him relate to his clients more effectively and try and understand how best to help difficult cases move on. He spent quite a few years in college to achieve these, but as soon as he was out he took over the family business as its new head.
Neo is a solemn and polite man, used to helping families through times of great grief. He is organized, even-toned, and purposeful in everything he does. He's very calm -especially under pressure, and rarely gets worked up about much. It takes a lot to get under his skin. He's often described as a brick wall, easy to see- but getting beyond that wall is difficult. He rarely expresses his true feelings or emotions about a situation. He doesn't often show fear or anger or sadness, making him come across as cold or unfeeling to some.
He's got a fantastic smile, and he's quite charming -especially as necessary to make his patrons feel comfortable. He's skilled in reading people, and is most certainly a good listener. It comes with the job to be understanding and open of people and their situations, and he does so well.
While he would never enjoy seeing someone in mourning, he has come to accept it as an important part of transitioning into acceptance, and he is willing to guide people through that.
He does often find it difficult to separate his job from his personal life. He doesn't ever really leave his work at work and it's hard to get him to really let his guard and that façade of professionalism go for any real length of time. He doesn't like to feel idle, and there's always work to be done.
