Lore
Extensive research and ancient records discovered in Talinokk suggest that Dregonians have existed since before the Inturos era, their origins shrouded in mystery and legend. Among the most significant findings are deciphered texts that reference the existence of four revered Dregonian gods—Andras, Cyfrin, Veritas, and Seren. These divine beings are said to have lived among the Inturos, guiding them and shaping their spiritual beliefs. Many scholars believe that these godlike figures are the ancestors of modern-day Dregonians, their influence still reflected in the species' traits and behaviors.

The recovered texts reveal that these four deities held profound symbolic significance for the Inturos, representing the eternal cycle of the mortal soul—life, passing, death, and rebirth. Each dragon god embodied a distinct phase of this cycle, bridging both the physical and spiritual realms. These beliefs were deeply woven into Inturos culture, influencing their understanding of existence, fate, and the afterlife. Some ancient writings suggest that the Dregonian gods were not only symbolic but tangible entities, walking alongside mortals in an age now lost to time. Whether myth or reality, their legacy endures, echoed in the reverence for Dregonians and the enduring tales passed down through generations.

Andras; The first dragon god was associated with life and vitality. Andras’ presence was believed to bring growth, renewal, and the flourishing of all living things, yet also the challenges and inevitable fear of loss that accompany existence. Often depicted with a robust, fuller form, Andras symbolized the idea that life is meant to be embraced and enjoyed to its fullest. Ancient texts frequently highlight this as a virtue for mortals to aspire to, which is said to explain why Dregonians are typically of a chubbier stature.

Cyfrin; The second dragon was said to embody the transcendence of the mortal realm. Revered as a guide for souls after passing, Cyfrin was believed to help them navigate the ethereal planes and find their place within the cosmic order. Often depicted with closed eyes, Cyfrin symbolized the unknowable nature of what lies beyond death, emphasizing that the mysteries of the afterlife cannot be perceived by mortal sight. This is said to be the reason why Dregonians never open their own eyes, even if they possess the ability to do so.

Veritas; The third dragon god, Veritas, embodied the cycle of death. Believed to govern the realm of the departed, Veritas ensured the proper transition of souls into the next phase of existence. Often depicted with small, flightless wings, they symbolized a longing to escape their divine role yet an inability to do so. It is said that this is why Dregonians possess small wings that are incapable of being used for flight.

Seren; The fourth dragon god symbolized the soul’s return to the mortal world. Seren’s fiery spirit was believed to grant souls the chance to be reborn, beginning new journeys of growth and discovery. Often depicted as a small, childlike dragon with endearing proportions, Seren appeared more innocent than fearsome, unlike the other dragon gods. It is said that this is why modern Dregonians possess youthful features in their appearance.

In the wild
In the wild, Dregonians thrive in small, tightly knit herds, typically led by the largest and most experienced male. These highly social creatures form deep bonds with one another, relying on their herd for protection, companionship, and survival. Their cooperative nature extends to the care of their young, as the entire group takes part in nurturing and raising the next generation. Older Dregonians play a crucial role in teaching the younger ones essential survival skills, ensuring the herd’s knowledge is passed down through generations.

Despite the impressive size and strength of larger variants, wild Dregonians are known for their gentle and trusting demeanor toward Kias and Dromas. They show little to no aggression unless provoked or threatened, often displaying curiosity rather than fear when encountering sentient beings.

Herds are often found roaming open plains, but can be sometimes found in dense forests and rolling hills, favoring areas where food and water are plentiful. Their migratory habits shift with the seasons, ensuring they always have access to abundant resources. Though wild Dregonians can fend for themselves, they often seek out friendly settlements, drawn to the presence of Kias and Dromas who provide food and companionship.

In society
For generations, Dregonians have been domesticated and integrated into daily life, serving as beloved pets, reliable travel mounts, and hardworking companions. Their roles vary depending on their size, temperament, and abilities, making them highly versatile creatures in Solarian society.

Smaller Dregonians are commonly found in most Solarian households, cherished as affectionate and pampered pets. Their intelligence and deep sense of loyalty make them ideal emotional and physical support companions, particularly for Kias and Dromas with disabilities. These smaller Dregonians are known to form strong bonds with their owners, offering comfort, companionship, and even assistance with daily tasks.

Larger Dregonians, on the other hand, take on more physically demanding roles. Frequently used as mounts, they provide a reliable means of travel across various terrains. Their strength and endurance also make them excellent for labor, such as pulling small carts, transporting goods, and carrying travel packs. Some are even trained for specialized tasks, such as search and rescue, messenger duties, or assisting in agricultural work.

Whether serving as a gentle companion or a steadfast worker, Dregonians have become an invaluable part of Solarian life, their presence woven into the fabric of society.
